24 Hour Bonus Layover in Brussels 2013

On our way home from Paris we had a BONUS 24 lay over in Brussels.

The Grand Place is the central square of the city.  It’s known for it’s decorative and aesthetic wealth.  It has been registered in the United Nations’ Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage List since 1998.  We landed there and just strolled around taking in the beauty of culture, history and art.  We also took advantage of  the beer and delicious waffles…when in Rome…I mean, Brussels. ;).

We stayed at Hotel Mozart, which was located right in the city square.  It’s a Moroccan/Mozart themed hotel with all sorts of nooks and crannies .  Our room was awesome and totally affordable!  We had our own little patio that opened up to a courtyard, it was quite charming.

Belgium is also known for their parks and open green spaces.  We really didn’t have enough time to explore that side of the country.  😦

We attempted to jump on a train to go check out the Manneken Pis (peeing boy statue) which is one of Brussels’ main attractions.  We opted out due to the language barrier.  Dutch is predominantly Brussels’ spoken language and we had a tough time translating and couldn’t figure out which train to get on.  I think it had something to do with the time change and travel lag. πŸ˜‰   We just continued to venture around the main area of the city…which was FULL of so much art, food, and history!  BONUS layover!
